Mission

501Secure is a nonprofit program dedicated to helping nonprofits secure their online work environments. We offer free and low-cost resources, training, and consulting to build the capabilities and confidence needed for organizations to effectively manage cybersecurity risk.

About the Program

501Secure is a Mabel G. Ragland Institute nonprofit program based in Spokane, Washington. It is dedicated to strengthening nonprofit cybersecurity through expert awareness trainings and cybersecurity and compliance planning services. We are committed to providing free resources and affordable services tailored to the needs of nonprofits and the professionals who protect them. We specialize in helping organizations new to cybersecurity formalize their online security and compliance efforts. We take a long view to building sustainable relationships with the organizations we serve. Building a culture of security takes time, typically years. We encourage nonprofits to grow with us as their understanding of the cybersecurity landscape develops and their organization's needs change.

This initiative connects experienced IT and cybersecurity professionals with nonprofits to increase organizational capacity to self-manage online security risk. 501Secure was developed, and is currently led, by a former nonprofit Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), who brings years of IT and cybersecurity governance experience to the program. 501Secure embodies Ragland Institute's commitment to lifelong learning and civic engagement by connecting nonprofits with seasoned professionals through the Inland Northwest Executive Service Corps (INW-ESC). Volunteer members of the INW-ESC generously donate their time, directly enabling the 501Secure program to keep its fees low and to provide select services at no cost.
